Build Your Regimen
Effective skincare is a sequence, not a single product. True Regimen is organized around four steps that cover what most skin needs. Start where you are and add as your routine grows.
Step 01 — Cleanse
Cleansing prepares the skin and removes the day without compromising the barrier. Choose a cleanser matched to your skin type — a gentle foaming or creamy formula for sensitive and dry skin, a lightly exfoliating option for combination skin, or a benzoyl peroxide wash for acne-prone skin.
Cleanse — AM + PM.
Step 02 — Treat
Treatment products address specific concerns such as texture, tone, and breakouts. Exfoliating peel pads and targeted treatments deliver focused actives — introduce them gradually and use them at the frequency your skin tolerates.
Treat — PM (or as your skin allows).
Step 03 — Hydrate
Hydration replenishes moisture and supports the barrier. Lightweight hyaluronic gels suit oily and combination skin, while lipid-rich creams suit drier or post-procedure skin. A moisturizer also helps seal in the steps applied before it.
Hydrate — AM + PM.
Step 04 — Protect
Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is the single most effective step for long-term skin health. A mineral sunscreen finishes every morning routine and helps protect the results of the steps beneath it.
Protect — AM, every morning. Reapply every 2 hours outdoors.
How to layer
Sequence and restraint matter more than ingredient count. A few rules keep the regimen working:
- Introduce one new active at a time. Give your skin two to three weeks before adding the next. If something flares, you'll know what caused it.
- Never layer Refine Peel Pads (salicylic acid) and Revive (gentle retinoid + TCA) on the same night. Alternate nights instead. Stacking exfoliating actives in one session can over-exfoliate even resilient skin.
- Always finish your AM routine with sunscreen. Any active that resurfaces, brightens, or unclogs (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, vitamin C) increases sun sensitivity. UV Armor closes the loop.
- Patch-test new products on the inner forearm for two to three days before applying to the face — especially if you have sensitive or reactive skin.
- Apply thinnest to richest texture. Gel before lotion before cream before sunscreen.
Starting out
You do not need every step on day one. A reliable cleanser, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen form a complete foundation. Add treatment products once that base is consistent. If you are unsure where to begin, see our FAQ or book a consultation with a True Regimen product expert.
